The Alleyman's Tarot

Created by SevenThirteenBooks

Get your own copy of this one-time printing, incredibly unique deck. The Alleyman's Tarot was the #1 most funded (and by far the most backed) tarot kickstarter ever. Made up of 137-cards from various decks, old and modern, the deck is a small art museum that fits in your hand and that divines smoothly. With the Booster Packs, you can include additional cards in the deck to replace or support the pre-existing cards. Grab your box, cloth, and bag while you're at it, and a X/O coin and poker chip, and see what the Alleyman has to tell you.

Everyone,

I appreciate the dozens and dozens of messages I am now getting of people who want to show me their art, hoping I'll pick them for the booster pack add on of extra cards. I get it-- I really do. But I hunt down what I want for the deck, and it means a lot to me to get cards for this specifically from tarot decks, both for the artistic vision and aesthetic of the concept, and because I am incredibly picky. I like hunting it down, deciding what I want, and making a pitch to the person. It's a fun part of the process.

But now I'm just inundated with everyone's art-- the majority of which isn't even tarot art, it's just random art they did. In fact, almost every single one isn't even tarot art-- it's just a piece of art they did that COULD be an oracle card. That's cool, but it's not what I'm looking for.

I appreciate the thought, I really do. But if I had known people were just going to mass message me their art and vie for the spots, I would not have announced it until I had made my selections. This has turned something fun into a nightmare of me constantly telling people that I'm not interested in their unsolicited work, which is not a fun thing to be in for either side.

And please, just message me about the Kickstarter here, on Kickstarter! I'm getting facebook messages and twitter dms and tumblr messages and people trying to add me on social media and invite me to their discords-- It's fun for me to be very personable and say hi to people and respond to every message, but I am just 1 person and there are literally thousands of you hoping to make serendipitous friendship connections with me. It likely just won't happen, not because I hate you or we can't become friends, but because there are hundreds, literally hundreds of people trying to make it happen all at once. Follow me on twitter, tumblr, say hi from time to time, interact with me, become my friend organically. Also, we don't HAVE to be friends! These projects show my creativity, but very little of who I am as a person-- if you like my work, continue to be my patron! That's enough, and I appreciate it 100000%. But please don't try to force a sudden friendship, I have a hard time just saying 'no' haha.

Love y'all, and I will announce the cards for the booster pack when I have them picked, but I don't need any more suggestions at this time. Thank you. <3

Can't Keep Up With Y'all... New Stretch Goals
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 15, 2021 at 09:00:29 PM

This Publishing Goblin is stressin', but a good stress. Because this has gone so very well!

First of all, hi! I'm Seven, aka 7DA, aka the Publishing Goblin. I'm one person, and I brought this all together. You can find all my nonsense at linktr.ee/7DA . I just did a Kickstarter for my poetry collections that had 60 backers on it. One book the summation of a 5+ year project that I finished about my fictional marriage to Freddy Krueger and Pinhead as a domestic/horror/satire thing, the other book a selected collection of my past 15 years of writing. If anyone is feeling kind, feel free to buy some of those here! Poetry doesn't tend to sell well, can't imagine why! : P

The Normal Tarot Gold and Silver is still fulfillling (awkwardly overlapping with this project-- NOT something I wanted to happen, sigh) and you can still pre-order that here!

I listened, I responded, I have updated the stretch goals to reflect the pace we're on, I think? Humorously when I first wrote them they went up to 500,000, but then I tried to be realistic and deleted everything over 200,000. Shows how much faith I had, huh?

We broke the first two.  Artists are making an extra $100 over their pay, and I can afford fulfillment help on this project as well as the mold costs of my entire Oracle Coin set that I'm working on for a potential October kickstarter. Hell yeah, y'all.

People want more cards, so in the later stretch goals I included some of that nonsense, but more immediately, I'm bringing in a Booster Pack add-on. This will be a 15-card pack of tarot cards I'm sourcing out now that I want to offer for $5 or less as an add on here very soon. I'll share what cards will be in it as soon as I have them all picked. I'm looking for new artists/decks for it, so be patient.

I am looking into a bag add on for people who want it, not tied to a stretch goal, unless I can find decent ones big enough for cheap. If that happens, I'll just make it free to everyone at one of the already existing stretch goal tiers. Otherwise I'll just toss it on here as a cheap add-on.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to be sharing updates with artist spotlights-- 8 or 9 artists per update, to share the links they wanted you all to see along with their credits, and so I can brag on them a little! : )

New goals below:

!! REACHED !! 130,000- This is a personal one! At this much, we've covered actual pay for me for once, fulfillment costs to use a fulfillment company, and the startup money to cover early work on my next big projects, including a full first manufacturing set of my Oracle Coins that I hope to launch in October!

!! REACHED !! 150,000- Artist appreciation! Let's divvy up some $100 to each artist!

200,000- I add a Booster Pack as an add-on, it will be 15 additional tarot cards that will come in a foil wrapper if I have any say about it.  I will find the cards ASAP to be added, and am already looking. Pricing it out, but I will try to offer it for $5 or less.

250,000- Artist appreciation! Another 100+ to each artist!

300,000- Everyone who is getting at least a deck is getting an Alleyman's Yes/No coin, details of material and design to be determined, AND a 134-th card of my choice, to be determined.

350,000- Artist appreciation! Another 100+ to each artist, and a SECOND Booster Pack add on is included. Same as the first, with new cards.

400,000- Is this even possible? You're all wild. A 135th-card to all decks.

450,000- Artist appreciation! Just another 200+ to each artist.

500,000- Wow uhh is this even reasonable?? Two more cards to all decks, rounding it off at 137, that's my favorite numbers but a bit jumbled.

I'm also thinking really hard with all my brain parts about how to offer more 'Touched-tier' decks, but it will be an after-the-Kickstarter thing with extra copies I order. So wait to hear more then.

Thanks again, you all rock.

12 hours. Funded. Big Wows. Live Kickstarters.
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 15, 2021 at 08:29:29 PM

Yo.

Every time I run a kickstarter anymore I never know what to expect. I'm just one person, and this is a lot. So much more $$ this time around than even the last big one and it's so fast and a lot. And it's COOL AS HELL.

In my logical brain parts I knew this would do really well, but in my panic human brain, I panicked a lot leading up to this. I can't explain, I'm broke. I couldn't afford this deck haha. But you are all showing me that this is going to work!

I'm sorry for the auto-generated messages asking you to fill out surveys. I am not a fan of that, I didn't fully understand what I was signing up for with that option. My apologies forever-- I'm just one person and I like that I can do personal connections on here with people in message and comments! And that auto-message sure made me feel like a gross machine, so again sorry.

I originally had an EVEN LONGER bibliography at the end of the campaign that included up to 3 links from EACH PERSON. I was almost done putting it in and... I reached the Kickstarter campaign character limit. I didn't know that was a thing, but I reached it. I will be making updates every few days with 5-8 artists from this with their credits and their links to make up for this! Their links will be in the guidebook with their credit though, so at least it will be there!

Someone messaged me asking what the $85k was for. There's supposed to be an interactive graph on this project to show that but it isn't working for some reason? So here:

  • 85,000
-9,200 for Licensing the cards/payment to artists who did original card for the deck
-35.000 Manufacturing the decks (assuming 1500 decks)
    -16,000 Packaging and Shipping costs
-7,500 to me for my labor putting this project together for a year and all the work of running the campaign, managing the 80+ artists, etc
-8,500 from Kickstarter and card charging fees (roughly 10%)

That's 76,200. Roughly 8% goes to taxes (I need to hold onto it for when I do my taxes to pay it), so that's another 6800 putting us at just about 83,000. $2k~ is wiggle room in case anything is off anywhere, not to mention paying Backerkit back for their ads (thats 1000s more) and their fees for their services. It goes away really fast haha.

Y'all rock! Thanks for the most amazing first 12 hours-- not even a full day yet.

And finally, I want to shout out the tarot decks that are still live on Kickstarter that are in here-- starting with Patrick Spargur's amazing The Fox's Wedding Tarot. We got his Moon in here.
